Swim Lessons: Preschool
YMCA Pre-School Swim Lessons are designed to help children feel more comfortable in the water, recognize water safety and develop the four main strokes of swimming. Pre-School Lessons are a half an hour in length and intended for children ages 3 - 5 years old.
Pike (Beginner)
Helps children develop safe pool behavior while emphasizing
water safety, bubble blowing and kicking and floating with assistance.
Eel (Advanced Beginner)
Children will begin submerging his/her face in the water. Focus is on paddling on front, back & side for 20 feet with support.
Ray (Intermediate)
Review of previous skills, improve strokes, build endurance on front, back & side for 25 feet. Sitting & kneeling dives as well.
Starfish
Refine strokes & increase endurance. Paddle on front, back & side unassisted.
