ABOUT OUR STAFF

All Smithfield YMCA Summer Camp Staff are certified in Child and Adult CPR, First Aid and AED. All certifications are through the American Red Cross and are nationally accredited. First Aid training includes, but is not limited to, epi-pen injections, heat related emergencies, acting as a first responder, identifying emergencies and so much more.

In addition to CPR, First Aid and AED trainings, all Smithfield Y staff are required to attend a 4-hour training on Child Abuse Prevention and Detection. Throughout this training staff will learn the 5 most common forms of child abuse/neglect and how to recognize signs of abuse.

Finally, all Smithfield Y Staff Members complete between 10 and 15 additional hours of camp staff training given by the Camp Director, Sports Coordinator and Senior Program Director.

The Smithfield YMCA Summer Day Camp Program is a state licensed camp and abides by all state rules and regulations, including a 1:13 child to counselor ratio.
