School’s Out Program
 

Before School Child Care

The Before School Child Care Program is for any child attending a Smithfield Public Elementary School—William Winsor, Anna McCabe, Old County Road School or LaPerche Elementary Schools.

The Before School Program begins at 6:45 AM until the start of school. The YMCA will bus all children to their respective schools each day. All busses are monitored by a YMCA School's Out Staff member.

Children can choose from extra help with homework, quiet board games, arts and crafts or playground time (weather permitting) each morning.

After School Child Care

The After School Child Care Program is for any school-age child in grades 1 through 7. The After School Program picks children up from Gallagher Middle School, William Winsor, Anna McCabe, Old County and LaPerche schools.

Upon arriving at the Smithfield YMCA, the children are served a healthy snack with juice daily.  Next, the children will have a mandatory 30-45 minute homework time (depending on age).

Each afternoon children can choose form the following activities, upon completion of homework: playground time, arts and crafts, board games, an organized sport and/or extra help with homework.

The After School Program runs from school dismissal until 6 PM. Any late pick-up will be charged $10 for every 5 minutes late. If a child has not been picked-up after 30 minutes, the authorities will be notified.

All School’s Out Participants must meet the following requirements:

• All children in the School’s Out Program must be a Member of the Smithfield Y
• All School’s Out Participants must pay through a monthly automatic debit on the first of each month
• All children must have proof of immunizations before the start of the program
       

The Smithfield YMCA School’s Out Program is for school age children grades 1 through 7. The YMCA is a State Licensed child care facility. All of our staff is trained and certified in American Red Cross, First Aid, Child CPR and Child Abuse Prevention and Detection. We always abide by a 10:1 child to counselor ratio.  Our staff is friendly,
well-trained and always looking out for the needs of each child!
